Greetings, all. I hope this sweltering heat is not affecting anyone adversely.
We finished our Our Lady of Mount Carmel Special Event Station with 228 contacts. Less than I had hoped for, considering we were operable for six days. With only two operators, however, I guess it wasn't too bad.
The one day that I set up at the festival, John Carlucci, a fellow Knight who was in the midst of taking our free Technician class, showed up. Unfortunately, my antenna was set up amidst all of the other electronics. I actually had to move the antenna, the Wolf River Coil, because I was coming through the event speakers. So, I repositioned it under the trees. Not one single contact. Back to the air conditioned home QTH for more contacts!
Just a reminder that we are holding a raffle for $1,000 in gift cards, to be given away in November, in time for all of your Black Friday purchases. Just a reminder--I wear 4X, XXTall shirts, and either Yaesu, Kenwood or Icom are okay with me.
Anyhow, the sale of the tickets will help us purchase our communications vehicle, which we will use in areas affected by natural disasters, where landline and cellular infrastructure has not yet been re-established. Please see a club member regarding purchasing the tickets.
That's pretty much it for now. Twenty meters has been active the past few days. I even heard Japan there this morning, though he couldn't hear me.
Vivat Jesus and 73,
Tom
