Showing Off Just a Little Bit This Weekend

Greetings:

I had the opportunity to attend the District Deputy/Grand Knights meeting at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Somerset, NJ Friday night and Saturday, June 20 and 21, 2025. Our incoming State Deputy, James Sweeney, was very hospitable.

I sold some more raffle tickets, both Friday and Saturday, and was given the go-ahead to set up my radio on Saturday. I set up my Kenwood TS-570(D)(G), Wolf River Coil, and just as important, my NJ2KC banner. I made a handful of contacts, my first one being to Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada, over 2,100 miles away from the Hilton. I also heard Jim, W2UM OTA, EMailed him, and had a QSO with him on 20m.

However, as exciting as every QSO is, it gets better--I handed out an application to a Knight who is currently testing for Technician, another Knight who always wanted to become a ham, somebody familiar with out newest full member, Alex, and also spoke with Ed Durfee, a former member who may possibly re-join our club.

PLUS--our Worthy State Program Director, Mike Vaclavicek, gave us two shout-outs--one Friday night, for the DD meeting, and one on Saturday, at the GK meeting. He very enthusiastically spoke about us operating the duration of the state convention, and told me that due to our unique program, we can reach out to people around the world, which is 100% true.

Also, congratulations to our club Treasurer, Art, N2AJO, or being elected Grand Knight of his council, and for Vince, K2VPL, for being named diocesan online membership director.

So, our club is growing. If you have not yet joined us, please do so.

Vivat Jesus and 73,

Tom
