I apologize for not writing to this blog for so long. So much has happened since my last entry.
Our club is actively engaged in fundraising for an Amateur Radio communications vehicle, to be used in areas affected by natural disasters, that have not yet had landline or cellular infrastructure re-established in the area. We will deploy with the vehicle, and provide Health and Welfare communications to those in the affected area. The vehicle will also be used a a mobile classroom, not only providing space for Amateur Radio teaching and testing, but also as a way to provide real-life STEM examples for students and teachers alike.
We are waiting for the State of New Jersey to let us know the status of our raffle license application. We would like to have a raffle this year, and we were hoping to have the tickets before hamfest season, which is upon us.
We are searching for corporate sponsorship for our vehicle. Coupled with any funds that we receive from the raffle(s), hopefully we will have the vehicle within the next 18 months or so.
Our last Special Event Station was to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus. We made 319 contacts to 24 geographical entities over 48 hours. Not bad.
That's it for now. I hope to update this more frequently.
Vivat Jesus and 73,
Tom
